
Marcos in the community in 2011
This past year Marcos has been spending time around the North-West with Bolton Wanderers supporters and in the local community.
Last winter, Marcos was joined by Lofty the Lion and a host of Wanderers players including Stuart Holden, Zat Knight, Rodrigo Moreno (now Benfica), and Johan Elmander (now Galatasary) visiting the Royal Bolton Hospital were they brought some festive cheer to patients.
Early in 2011, Marcos and Bolton right-back Gretar Steinsson met supporters when they attended a social event ran by the Bolton Wanderers Supporters Association.
Marcos and fellow Spanish star Rodrigo Moreno joined Bolton’s young supporters in February when they attended a Junior Whites party and question & answer session with the members.
In March, Marcos went to local schools as part of the Go Global campaign were he helped school children with their language learning.
After their pre-season tour of America, Marcos joined other members of the Wanderers squad at the Reebok Stadium for the annual Family Fun day. They were on hand to meet supporters and sign autographs for Wanderers fans.
In October, Marcos joined Chung-Yong Lee and the Wanderers mascot Lofty the Lion at the launch of Match Attax cards. They met young collectors of the game at the Reebok Stadium for the launch again they signed autographs and posed for photographs with the youngsters.
As they entered the winter period for 2011, Marcos was again on hand to turn on Christmas Lights. The Spanish left-back and goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen went to the Middlebrook were they started off their festive period. Before they were joined by other members of the Bolton squad at the town hall for the big Bolton lights switch on. Marcos ended the year visiting Bolton Hospice in early December.
