Draw keeps Sunderland in survival hunt
Marcos’ Sunderland side were minutes away from a major upset as they led in the dying minutes at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester last night.
A late leveller from Nasri levelled up the game, but it was still a vital point for Sunderland in one of their games in hand over their relegation threatened rivals.
“We were very unlucky with Man City’s last goal,” said the 23-year-old Spaniard. “We absolutely deserved the win. But we just have to keep fighting, and get focused for tomorrow, and the game against Chelsea.”
“We’ve deserved more from the last two games for sure. Everton only had a couple of chances, but we went home with zero points, and at Man City, again we deserved more.”
“We’ve got to go game-by-game. We’ve got one more game than the rest of the teams, which is important. We’ve got five games left, and we have to do our best. And we’ve shown during the whole season that against the big teams we perform well. We just need to keep doing that, and even more so at Chelsea.”
After Chelsea, Sunderland have three home games left against Cardiff, West Brom and Swansea, as well as a trip to Old Trafford. They will need to get as many points as possible from these games to give themselves a chance of avoiding the drop.
