Chelsea restore top spot lead
After playing in the FA Cup at the weekend, Chelsea took their chance to restore their seven point lead over Tottenham with a convincing 4-2 home victory over Southampton.
Eden Hazard struck first with a low shot after five minutes before Oriol Romeu equalised for the Saints. Marcos Alonso turned provider of the second when his header back across goal was converted by Gary Cahill right on half-time.
Diego Costa added a brace in the second period before a consolation from Ryan Bertrand, another former Chelsea man, was on target in the dying seconds.
The Blues next travel to Goodison Park on Sunday where they will seek another three points in their quest for the Premier League title.
