Blues snatch dramatic victory in Madrid
Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi scored a 94th-minute winner against Spanish side Atletico Madrid to maintain their 100% start in Champions League Group C.
The game had some synergy for Marcos, who’s dad had played 119 games for the hosts and had a spell managing the side.
An Antoine Griezmann penalty had put Athletico ahead in the 40th minute before Alvaro Morata levelled proceedings with his fourth goal in five days. Marcos proved the key provider when his cross was tapped home by substitute Batshuayi to make Chelsea the first English team to win away at Atletico and condemn them to defeat in their first European game at their new stadium.
Victory means Chelsea stay top of Group C on six points, two clear of Roma and five ahead of third-placed Atletico.
