Alonso scores winner in Palermo
Marcos Alonso scored the all-important third goal against Palermo to secure three points for the Viola.
Fiorentina led the game after 23 minutes through an Josip Ilicic strike before Mato Yayalo had equalised for the Sicilians. Alberto Gilardino gave Fiorentina the lead again going into the break but once more the side were pegged back when Luca Rigoni levelled for the hosts.
Alonso struck the match winner on 78 minutes, a fine drive with his left foot which crashed into the net.
The result moved Fiorentina up one place to fifth, two points ahead of sixth-placed Genoa and secures them a birth in the Europa League for next season.
