
5 star Chelsea receive EPL trophy
Chelsea were awarded the English Premier League trophy on Sunday after they dispatched of Sunderland 5-1 in John Terry’s last game at the bridge.
Chelsea became the first side to register 30 top-flight wins in a 38 game season. The blues fell behind when Javier Manquillo struck, but Willian quickly levelled before Eden Hazard gave the home side the lead after the break. Pedro added a third before a brace in five minutes from substitute, Michy Batshuayi, ensured the emphatic win.
It’s Marcos Alonso’s first league title, but he adds to a wealth of titles in the Alonso family. His father winning the Spanish league with Barcelona in 1984–85, Marcos’ grandfather Marquitos won five La Liga titles with Real Madrid.
Chelsea finished 7 points ahead of Tottenham at the top of the Premier League and will go to Wembley for the FA Cup Final next weekend buoyed by the last few weeks.
